The Denver Brass Inc. presents two world-acclaimed ensembles on tour - The Denver Brass, 12-part symphonic brass, and the Aries Brass Quintet. Musicians from these ensembles have been heard from rural Colorado, to the Moscow Conservatory of Music and mountain tops in Costa Rica. Critics everywhere hail these ensembles for exquisite and exhilarating music presented in an intimate and personal manner, more than just a concert! “Goose Bumps Guaranteed,” is the tag line for both ensembles, and you can count on programming that will provide something for every member of your audience. The Aries Brass Quintet and The Denver Brass are heard on more than 12 compact discs on the Denver Brass, Delos, and Centaur, and Klavier labels. The Aries Brass Quintet has appeared live on NPR and US and Russian television, and both ensembles are heard daily on radio stations across the nation.

The Denver Brass

One of just a few professional ensembles of its kind in the world, The Denver Brass -12-part chamber brass - features a sound experience that is at the same time inspiring and exhilarating, powerful and elegant, and of diverse and dynamic musical styles. It’s more than just a concert, it’s an experience that reaches to the soul and provides lasting impact. The ensemble’s success is directly linked to its universal appeal. The classical and popular music fan, and people of all ages and cultures find inspiration in the unique sounds and styles that are The Denver Brass. The Denver Brass is in the forefront of brass performance, entertainment, commissioning, publishing, recording and education. From Renaissance masterpieces to fresh new works, every concert is a feast for the heart, mind, and soul. The musicians of The Denver Brass are selected through audition for their technical and creative excellence, and are on the faculties of the area’s out-standing music schools. The ensemble is in constant demand, presenting educational concerts and workshops, community concerts, special events, and season series concerts. The Denver Brass has been heard with the Colorado Symphony, at Denver’s Carousel Ball, opening night of the Colorado Ballet, the Arvada Center, the 1998 Baseball All-Star Gala, Denver Botanic Gardens, Strings in the Mountains, the Breckenridge Music Festival and World Youth Day Papal Mass of 1993. The Denver Brass is heard on the following compact discs: “Denver Brass Christmas,” “Seville,” “Pipes and Brass,” “Elegant Classics for Brass” - Centaur Records Inc., “Rhapsody in Red, White and Blue,” and “Bagpipes and Brass,” - Klavier Records Inc. The Denver Brass will provide your community with a concert presentation of magnificent master-pieces of all styles, or one of our outstanding specialty concerts such as “Symphony in Space,” “American Sound Tracks” or “Bagpipes and Brass Megalomania.”

Denver Brass touring fees for the 2001-2002 season are $3600 plus lodging and travel for The Denver Brass alone, and $5,000 plus lodging and travel for The Denver Brass with bagpipes and drums. 

“Symphony in Space” includes such favorites a “Scenes from Star Wars,” “E.T.,” “Mars” from the Planets, and “Star Trek Generations.”

“American Sound Tracks” features great music from America’s movies and Broadway shows - “Robin Hood Prince of Thieves,” “Jurassic Park,” “Star Trek Generations,” “Music from “E.T.,” “”Far and Away,” “Scenes from Phantom of the Opera,” and more.

“Bagpipes and Brass Megalomania” features the exquisite bagpipes and brass arrangements of John Kuzma - “Amazing Grace,” “Scotland the Brave,” “Highland Cathedral,” “Murray’s Fancy,” and “Hector the Hero.” Also featured are many of the most glorious sounds from the Emerald Isles - “Oh Danny Boy,” “Rhapsody on Minstrel Boy,” and John William’s “Far and Away.”

Aries Brass Quintet

Founded in 1976, the Aries Brass Quintet, recital quintet of The Denver Brass, is an ensemble internationally recognized for its elegant approach to brass chamber music performance. The ensemble has toured the United States, Western Europe, Russia, and Central and South America, and has been heard live on National Public Radio and Russian national television. Aries has been the invited guest of the Moscow Conservatory of Music and the International Music Festival of San Jose, Costa Rica. Aries has enjoyed a 20-year residency with the prestigious St. John’s Cathedral chamber music series in Denver, Colorado, and is also in residence at the University of Denver Lamont School of Music. A fresh and exciting chamber ensemble, Aries is in the forefront of commissioning new works, which embody the spirit of American music. From exquisite jazz and contemporary sounds to delicate Renaissance and Baroque masterpieces, an Aries performance is an event that leaves listeners with lasting personal impact. Aries Brass Quintet touring fee, for the 2001-2002 season, is $2200 plus lodging and travel.

“Sizzling Sounds of the Americas” - includes early American melodies, popular American instrumental styles, and music of the Americas. Includes Amazing Grace, Fats Waller’s “Handful of Keys,” “Fantasy on America the Beautiful,” “West Side Story Suite,” “Tango,” “Souvenir de Porto Rico” and more. 

“2001 Brass Odyssey” - concert journey from the earliest brass music to American musical styles and fresh new sounds from around the world, including the sparkling sounds of JS Bach’s “Air Pour les Trompettes,” Leonard Bernstein’s  “West Side Story Suite” interwoven with readings from “Romeo and Juliet,” “Fantasy on America the Beautiful,” “Amazing Grace,” “Prayer for Bruno,” and fantastic new musical gifts from recent tours to Russia and Brazil. 

“Aries’ International Intrigue” - highlighting the intriguing influence of national and ethnic musical styles on music of other nations, as well as the birth of new sounds when cultures come together. Includes salsa, tango, favorites from the Emerald Isles, selections from “Carmen,” the “Russian Sailor’s Dance,” and much more.

Educational Workshops

Our ensembles are pleased to present dynamic and informative workshops for high school and/or university students at a nominal charge. Workshops will be specially designed to meet the needs of the target audience, and may focus on professional development of the brass musician, music management, chamber music, keeping music in your life past high school, or tips for reaching your full potential as a musician.
