Nurture your child’s innate musical potential.
Infant – 7 years is the age when your child’s innate music potential is actively developing. Parents can help bring out a child’s natural curiosity about music by creating a playful, encouraging environment.
Early childhood is the optimal time to nurture innate ability. Research has proven that sooner is better than later. Stimulate your child’s natural curiosity and learning through musical play, discovery and creativity.
Young children learn quickly through modeling the special people in their lives, we believe strongly in parental participation. Connect musically with your child as you sing, chant rhythmic rhymes and play simple rhythm instruments together.
Repetition will further enhance your child’s development. Sing songs, repeat rhythms, listen constantly with joy to all different types of music from classical to jazz, pop to American folk songs. Children that sing when very young remember their American song heritage AND can sing on pitch. A great place to share and discuss music is in the car. Make it an adventure to see what you are going to listen to today! (My daughter, age 3, said, one day as we were in the car listening to the radio: “Mommy – that’s Oatsmart!” (Mozart)
Music can and should be enjoyed by everyone, everyday. Music is not just for talented performers. It is for everyone and it can be enjoyed to the fullest every day in your own individual way.
Children learn through active music making. So what happens if they sing and clap and use rhythm instruments all the time?
