In 2014, David Artley added the position of Principal Trumpet of the Denver Brass to his illustrious musical career and service to our nation. As a member and soloist of the United States Army Field Band (the premier touring band of the Army) and later the United States Army Band “Pershing’s Own,” David performed live for 7 sitting and former U.S. Presidents. You may have also unknowingly seen and heard David at the White House or one of many major United States ceremonies as a member of the U.S. Army Ceremonial Band or Herald Trumpets. After his distinguished career in the United States Army, David has brought his talents to the Denver Brass where he now sits in front of 7 different pitched trumpets that give the Denver Brass its unique one-of-a-kind sound.

When not practicing, David’s office is in the outdoors or under water. Eight marathons and a half ironman triathlon, hiking, biking, scuba diving, and yes, farming on a farm in Iowa that has been in the family since 1877, keep him more than occupied. David also displays his cerebral side with writing, reading, photography and history. The glue that holds all of these many accomplishments and hobbies together is his family - his wife Andrea and daughters Sophia and Elisabeth and assorted cats and dogs. David has also performed with the Fort Collins Symphony, Chamber Orchestra of the Springs,Colorado Springs Philharmonic, and the Monument Hill Brass Quintet. He is Adjunct Instructor of Trumpet at Colorado State University Pueblo. We are fortunate to have found both gallantry and artistry for this important trumpet seat in the Denver Brass. All of what he gave to the service of his country he now gives to our brass fans
