Jeff Craig is one of the true hearts and souls of the Denver Brass. His great sense of humor, caring, compassion for fellow musicians, and consummate musicianship are personal attributes that permeate the ensemble. Of course, it stands to reason that Jeff Craig would be born in Craig, Colorado. He is not only a native Coloradoan, but also took advantage of the state’s great colleges, attending Mesa State, Colorado State University, University of Denver and University of Colorado. Jeff is very active as a free-lance trombonist, and in addition to being a prominent member of the Denver Brass, also performs regularly with Central City Opera, Inside the Orchestra, Apollo Chamber Brass, Colorado Springs Philharmonic and was a former member of the Fort Collins Symphony and Cheyenne Symphony. Somehow he also manages to find time to serve as Director of Publications and Librarian of the Denver Brass, arranging engraving works for performance and publication.
Jeff had an early affinity for woodworking. He worked his way through college by practicing as a sawyer. That early work has paid off, as his love for woodworking has now resulted in pieces that are as artistic as his trombone playing - much to the benefit of his wife Heidi, who is the love of his life. Speaking of Heidi, the two of them became famous when they were chosen to appear on “Wheel of Fortune,” where they won a nice beach vacation!
