Ryan Spencer is the newest and, perhaps, youngest member of the Denver Brass. His performance chops are at the top of the charts, and his enthusiasm is infectious. With undergraduate and master degrees from the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music, and now working towards a doctorate at University of Colorado Boulder, Ryan is well on his way to trumpet stardom. As is expected in Denver Brass, Ryan excels at all the different pitched trumpets, including his stellar mastery of piccolo trumpet. Ryan has studied with Terry Sawchuck at the University of Colorado, Justin Bartels of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, and Denver Brass trumpeter Al Hood, who solidified his jazz improvisation skills. Ryan is principal trumpet of the Denver Philharmonic, where he has been a featured soloist. He also plays in the Cheyenne Symphony and Stratus Chamber Orchestra.
Ryan is surely a busy musician, but somehow has time to plan a wedding with his fiancée, Audrey Dignon, who herself is also a musician (oboe). After watching Ryan perform in the Denver Brass trumpet section, it’s easy to see how is outgoing personality would make him a championship master of Dance Dance Revolution (DDR) - a dance video game where lights and a stage give the player an opportunity to come alive in front of an audience. After Ryan and Audrey’s wedding, he hopes that kids and dogs are in his future, but right now it’s all lips to the metal!
