Tim Allums comes to the Denver Brass from many years of service to his country with the United States Air Force as a member of the U.S. Air Force Academy Band, where he was a member of the famed “Stellar Brass.” Formally trained in music and trumpet performance at the University of Oregon under professors George Recker and Dave Bender, Tim is a born entertainer. Through his position in the Stellar Brass, he has been involved in arranging and performing at a very high musical level. He also performed in the Air Force Academy concert band and renowned “Falconaires” jazz band. Equally at home in all genres of music, Tim has performed with Bighorn (rock band), Conjunto Colores (salsa band), Colorado Jazz Repertory Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Colorado Springs, and the Denver Brass.
As Tim suffers from “Peter Pan Syndrome” and will never grow up, it is necessary for him to be surrounded by his wife Melanie, son Matthew, dogs Max and Bella, and goldfish, Bubbles. Tim does have some adult hobbies too, and can be found woodworking, deck building, and keeping that Air Force body in shape at the gym. Tim is funny as well as inspirational. Making people happy is what makes him happy. Given all the people who have left Tim’s performances over the years with smiles on their faces, he is achieving his goal!
