Virtual Concerts: Sound Troubleshooting

Having trouble with sound?

Computer sound troubleshooting for our livestreams

We’ve seen a few comments about the sound being too soft on our livestreams. We work hard with audio engineers to ensure the most optimal mix of mics and thus highest quality of sound for these livestream shows, and we want you to hear them. If you’re having trouble with volume while viewing the livestream, please consider the following troubleshooting measures:

There can be a few places with volume controls on your computer:

  • Taskbar

If you click the speaker icon on the bottom right of your desktop, there will be a slider that allows you to adjust the master volume. Make sure that this is all the way up.

  • Youtube video itself

Click the speaker icon in the bottom left of the livestream on Youtube. A similar slider will appear:

Make sure that this slider is turned up all the way as well.

  • Speakers (if attached). Many people have a set of physical speakers attached to their computer. If there is a knob on these, you can turn it clockwise to increase their volume output.

  • If adjusting these controls does nothing for your volume level, try the following:

    • Make sure that your computer’s software is up to date. If there are outstanding updates, features such as audio may not be functioning at their full capacity.

    • If you’re listening alone, try plugging in some headphones. They often create a better aural platform for listening to the Denver Brass than normal built in computer or laptop speakers.

  • If it’s still not working, check out this official list of sound troubleshooting from Microsoft (PC) or Apple (Mac).
